DO YOU COVER COURSE MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT IN A LOCKED COMPOUND OR IN THE OPEN OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS HOURS?

Although we recommend that all equipment is stored in a locked and alarmed building we understand that it is not always possible. The LinksMaster policy provides cover for all self-propelled vehicles stored in a locked compound outside of business hours subject to certain conditions regarding the items being immobilised and in some cases an increased policy excess. The policy extends to cover golf buggies and items of plant over 25 horse power (hp) in the open, again subject to certain conditions and an increased policy excess.

GOLF - CAN WE INCREASE THE LEVEL OF COVER FOR MEMBERS' PERSONAL EFFECTS?

The standard level of cover is £1,500 per member. Whilst we urge all clubs to ensure their members have their own personal golf equipment insurance, we can increase the cover if requested.

GOLF - WE REQUIRE OUR DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS LIABILITY COVER TO INDEMNIFY THE LEGAL ENTITY. CAN YOUR POLICY COVER THIS?

Yes, the directors and officers liability cover is automatically extended to cover the legal entity with certain policy limits applying.

GOLF - TO WHAT EXTENT ARE OUR GOLFERS COVERED UNDER THE POLICY?

The policy provides member to member liability for all golfers including members, green fee payers, society golfers and guests. Importantly the member-to-member liability also extends to cover the golfer representing the golf club “whilst on tournament”.

GOLF - DOES THE POLICY COVER US IF WE ARE REQUIRED TO ALTER ONE OF OUR GOLF HOLES DUE TO ERRANT GOLF BALLS?

The policy will provide up to £100,000 of cover for costs associated with realigning a hole following enforcement by a local authority.

GOLF - DO YOU REQUIRE ANY PROPOSAL FORMS TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE COVER CAN COMMENCE?

As responsible scheme providers it is important that we have all the relevant information about the club. Therefore we do require a proposal form to be completed within 30 days of cover commencing. If you need assistance in completing the form we will be happy to help with your questions.

GOLF - DOES THE POLICY COVER OUR COMMITTEE MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS AND FRANCHISEES UNDER THE FIDELITY GUARANTEE SECTION OF THE POLICY?

The policy recognises any authorised person(s) who handles money for your club under this section.

GOLF - CAN YOU INCLUDE DAMAGE TO FAIRWAYS UNDER YOUR GREENS AND TEES SECTION?

Interestingly a fairway or playing surface by definition is not recognised in the rules of golf. It is in fact defined as the “lowest cut of rough or a closely mown area.” In line with the traditional definition, the cover provides malicious damage for all greens, tees and closely mown areas “in play.” The standard cover is up to £200,000, which can be increased further upon request.

GOLF - WHAT COVER SHOULD WE HAVE FOR OUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM AS SOME SCHEMES ARE OFFERING INDEMNITY COVER?

We are aware some providers do offer indemnity cover to restrict the maximum sum insured payable in the event of a claim. Each club’s claim event can be very different and so can the costs involved. As an experienced scheme provider, we would recommend the irrigation system is insured based on the replacement value.

GOLF - SEVERAL OF OUR COURSE MACHINERY ITEMS ARE ROAD REGISTERED - DO THEY NEED TO BE ADDED TO THE MOTOR INSURANCE DATABASE?

Yes, regardless of whether the items merely cross a dividing road or are simply used in the club car parks, if the item has registration plates, it must be uploaded on to the Motor Insurance Database (MID). We can work with you to achieve this.

CRICKET - TO WHAT EXTENT ARE OUR MEMBERS COVERED UNDER THE POLICY?

Unlike some policies available on the market, this policy provides participant-to-participant cover for all cricketers including any member, player, participant or official. This means that if someone is injured or hurt during the course of a game, the club will be covered subject to meeting the terms and conditions of the policy.

CRICKET - TO WHAT EXTENT IS OUR CLUB COVERED IN RELATION TO DAMAGE TO A THIRD PARTY'S PROPERTY?

The policy extends to include damage to third party property under the public liability section. Therefore, the club will be covered for incidents such as a cricket ball breaking a window of neighbouring properties to the cricket club. This cover applies to damage caused by members, officers, employees or guests of the club.

CRICKET - WHAT COVER IS AVAILABLE FOR PROPERTY SUCH AS SIGHTSCREENS, SCOREBOARDS, AND NETS?

This policy automatically includes cover, up to a limit of £2,500, for sightscreens, playing surfaces, cricket pitch covers, bowling machines, nets, poles, electronic and portable scoreboards under the “machinery, plant and all other content” section.

CRICKET - ARE PLAYERS' PERSONAL POSSESSIONS COVER INCLUDED?

Cover for players’ personal possessions is included in this insurance policy both as a member of the club and whilst away representing the club, subject to the cover limits set out in the policy. However, protection for jewellery, watches, and money is excluded. This is a standard exclusion under commercial insurance packaged policies, as it is normal business practice for each player to insure their valuables under their home insurance policies.

CRICKET - DO YOU COVER CLUBHOUSES CONSTRUCTED OF TIMBER?

At Marsh, we understand the market and that many cricket clubhouses are considered to be “nonstandard” construction. Our underwriter, ProSight, is able to underwrite such risks and it rates such construction accordingly in line with the risk(s) they pose. Every club is looked at on a risk-by-risk basis, so favourable terms may be available to clubs that are aligned with good risk management – such as having appropriate fire protection if their clubhouse is constructed of timber.

CRICKET - DO YOU REQUIRE ANY QUOTE FORMS TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE COVER CAN COMMENCE?

As a responsible scheme provider, it is important that we have all the relevant information about the club and the risks it faces. This is to protect the interest of both the insurer and the club itself. Therefore, a proposal form must be completed within 30 days of cover commencing. If you need assistance in completing the form, then we will be happy to help with your queries.

CRICKET - WHY HAVE YOU SELECTED PROSIGHT AS THE INSURER FOR THIS PRODUCT?

When selecting an insurer to work with, we conduct a market exercise to assess which insurer can best meet the demands and needs of a club whilst aiming to ensure cover is at a competitive and reasonable cost. ProSight is a specialist Lloyd’s Syndicate and has a wealth of expertise and experience in the sports and leisure insurance sector. We have worked together to develop a tailored sports insurance product for cricket clubs, and we are confident in Prosight’s flexible and open approach to underwriting such risks.
